Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Confirmed; First Details And Screenshots

Activision pulled the trigger a little early today on the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 by updating the game's official website with confirmation of the title prior to the official reveal tonight during the NBA playoffs. While most of the information has since been taken down, it was very much up for all to see this morning and therefore has been preserved on countless non-Activision servers.

Activision pulled the trigger a little early today on the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 by updating the game’s official website with confirmation of the title, prior to the official reveal tonight during the NBA playoffs. While most of the information has since been taken down, it was very much up for all to see this morning and therefore has been preserved on countless non-Activision servers.

Black Ops 2 will launch on November 13th, and while it may be a sequel to the hit 2010 title, this Black Ops is not set during Cold War but instead takes place in the “near future”.

The official blurb from Activision reads:

“Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise,Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”

In addition to some box art pulled from the site, a handful of screenshots showing this future setting were also captured. The screens, viewable in our gallery below, all show what appears to be a worn torn Los Angeles and several high tech instruments of war like quad-hover drones and walking tanks. Activision also provided a YouTube link to Black Ops 2’s debut trailer, however it is currently set to private.

Once Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is officially revealed this evening we should have a lot more information about the game, so make sure to check back later for the full “official” scoop.
