It’s that time of year again, folks. Infinity Ward, taking point at Activision’s lucrative franchise in place of Treyarch, is on the verge of officially unveiling Call of Duty 2016 – and details have already began to slip out the gate ahead of schedule.

Rumored to be titled Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a listing for the shooter cropped up on PlayStation Store, where a worldwide reveal was pegged for May 3. Take that with a grain of salt, of course, with Activision yet to offer an official response to the alleged leak.

Supposing that Infinity Ward’s return at the helm – the first time since the largely underwhelming Ghosts in 2013 – will come bearing the title Infinite Warfare, it does support previous rumors that the studio’s new installment would catapult the Call of Duty franchise into the distant future, replete with space combat and bleeding-edge military tech. It would also continue the futuristic momentum from both Advanced Warfare and last year’s Black Ops 3, but at what point does Activision’s military shooter become a fully-fledged sci-fi title? We’ll leave that one for you.

Keep your peepers peeled on We Got This Covered over the coming days as more information pertaining to Call of Duty 2016 comes to light.

If previous years are any indication, we’ll get the official drop on Infinity Ward’s shooter in the coming weeks but until then, you can catch a glimpse of the leaked PlayStation Store listing that all but confirms the game’s subtitle.
