Activision has released the official Call of Duty: Ghosts single player campaign trailer, which takes the franchise where it has never gone before. That’s right, a good old fashion shootout between US Air Force astronauts and terrorist astronauts on the International Space Station.

I suppose it had to happen at some point.

At any rate, the trailer explains that Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ apocalyptic setting is the result of something we trusted that was turned against us. In this case, it appears to be a USAF satellite that has the ability to rain down several massive “rods” across the contiguous United States. The giant phallic space weapons penetrated the Earth, devastated the land, and left the US open to invaders from “south of the equator.”

Oh, and the Ghosts‘ dog attacks and then brings down a helicopter single-pawedly! It is pretty impressive stuff.

Check out the single player campaign trailer embedded below, and look for more coverage on Call of Duty: Ghosts as we get closer to its launch on November 5th, 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC (the next generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will follow on each of the consoles’ respective release dates).
