If you were holding out with the hope that Street Fighter V would eventually see a release on Xbox One, it looks like you may be waiting forever – Capcom has stated that the pedigree brawler will never, ever be released on Microsoft’s console.

Speaking to Gamespot, a Capcom representative has put the final nail in the coffin concerning the finer details of the company’s exclusivity deal with Sony.

One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox. But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run.

The statement has outright confirmed that neither Street Fighter V or any of its future iterations or expansions will ever see a release on Xbox One, so if you’re a huge Street Fighter fan and have yet to pick up a PlayStation 4, there’s never been any better reason to do so. The statement strictly only covers console exclusivity though – the title is still scheduled for a PC release.

Street Fighter V is currently slated for an early 2016 release, and you can expect further info on the game come E3.
