Mixed in among all the completely unexpected news from the latest Nintendo Direct, was the confirmation that everyone’s favorite little robot will return to North America when Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder launches digitally for the 3DS on January 9, 2014.
First revealed as Chibi-Robo: Live Action! when it suddenly appeared on the Japanese eShop last July, Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder has players use the 3DS camera to photograph real-world objects so that the beloved robot can transport them to Mr. Curator’s museum. The best part about the whole process is that once the scan is completed, Chibi-Robo pops out of the real-world object, via augmented reality, and physically grabs the item to take it into the game world!
There is no word on exactly how much Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder will cost when it lands on the 3DS eShop next month, but it is reasonable to expect that it will be priced somewhere around $15 — which is roughly the cost of its 1,500 yen Japanese counterpart. Nintendo also revealed that a free demo would be up on the eShop “soon,” but there is honestly very little need to download that. I mean, it’s Chibi-Robo for crying out loud!
