While living in the Midwest means having to deal with a lot of snow, suburban boredom and generally lackluster food options, it also means getting to experience three glorious months of Autumn. If the gorgeous weather and sights aren’t enough, the month of October brings with it the joy of trick-or-treating, or at least the nostalgia of watching the neighborhood get into the Halloween spirit. No game caught the feeling of childish glee surrounding the holiday better than Costume Quest, and for fans who can’t wait to save the neighborhood while begging for candy again, then the upcoming release of Costume Quest 2 is plenty to get giddy about.
Launching on Steam on October 7, pre-orders are now available for PC, Mac and Linux and come in two versions: either Costume Quest 2 with four additional classic costumes for $15 or the “Pre-Purchase Costume Quest 2 Bundle” that includes Costume Quest 2, Costume Quest, the Grubbins on Ice DLC and the four classic costumes for $20. If you’ve never played the original or the quirky DLC, then the Pre-Purchase Bundle is a no-brainer. If you have, then you’ll recognize the classic costumes, which include the robot, unicorn, eyeball and pumpkin.
While the concept of the original is clever enough to carry it through more than a few games, the sequel looks to shake it up by having Reynold and Wren travel into the future. There are more than a few costumes being added for the sequel as well, including a pterodactyl and the well-loved Thomas Jefferson. Check out the newest trailer below to see the new costumes in action.
Although the game is set to also release on PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360, and PS3, no release date has been announced for consoles. Be sure to check back here for more news though and for our review of Costume Quest 2!
