Crytek: TimeSplitters 4 Interest Is Not High Enough

In a recent interview, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli was asked about the status of the often-rumored-to-be-in-development TimeSplitters 4. Yerli once again shot down rumors of a new game, but did dangle a little bit of hope for fans of the classic shooter.

“I tested through my official blog to see how big the TimeSplitters community is, and while the volume of responses was quite high, we feel it’s not high enough yet. That being said, it did indeed trigger a deeper evaluation of what we do with TimeSplitters, and I can only say this for now; we might have some surprises coming soon.”

In the past, Yerli has mentioned the possibility releasing a non-retail TimeSplitters game, but has always been very careful to make it clear that nothing is in the works right now. As disappointing as the above statement is, that last sentence is the most positive “official” news that I can remember hearing about the future of the series in a long time.

With that said, it certainly seems like it’s a bit too early to get too excited about a possible “coming soon” surprise TimeSplitters announcement. The best thing we as fans can do now is to keep showing support for the old-shooter on the TimeSplitters 4 fan-started Facebook page, and Cevat Yerli’s Twitter account.
