Taking place in the city of Ubersreik during its dying days, Warhammer: End Times will see five players team up in order to stop the rise of the Skaven. A power-hungry group of rat men, the Skaven are some of the uglier foes I’ve seen in action recently. Rats are gross enough as is, but giant ones wielding weapons? Horrifying.

Each of the unique heroes that players can use will have their own unique gear, abilities, personality, and play-style. During their adventure, which will take the group from the world of Under Empire to the Magnus Tower, the heroes must learn to use their powers in tandem with each other. Otherwise, you will be overrun by the Skaven, which sounds truly awful.

The world of Warhammer has always been a mixed bag to me in the world of videogaming, as there have been some impressive highs (Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War) and crushing lows (the shuttering of Warhammer Online). While Fatshark Games’ recent output has been lacking (Escape Dead Island), the premise here seems sound.

We will continue to have coverage of Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide in the lead-up to its release later this year, so stay tuned!
