In typical remaster fashion, the developers are touting the visual improvements of their definitive collection more than anything:

Deep Silver are bringing the iconic bone crunching, skull smashing, limb breaking, blood drenching fan loved Dead Island and Dead: Island Riptide to the next generation! Featuring fully remastered and greatly improved versions of both Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide set to deliver the ultimate Dead Island experience.

Admittedly, some of the upgraded visuals in the first trailer do look pretty sweet, but only time will tell if this collection will make a remaster of the fledgling series worthwhile so soon after the initial releases.

The Dead Island Definitive Collection will also include Dead Island: Retro Revenge; a 2D beat-em-up with a 16-bit pixel aesthetic. The package will release May 31 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
