Touching down in stores on February 5th is Dead Space 3 and today, EA has released the official launch trailer. Players will once again step into the shoes of protagonist Isaac Clarke as he battles his way through the Necromorphs. That won’t be all Isaac has to fight through though, as the game will feature a large cast of enemies, including a new human enemy and environmental hazards. Luckily, you’ll be joined by a soldier named John Carver who will aid you as you explore the planet of Tau Volantis and search for the answer that will end the Necromorph plague forever.
Featuring drop in/out co-op that will let you play as Isaac or Carver, Dead Space 3 is looking to offer gamers an added incentive to team up with a buddy. If you choose to take the co-op route, you’ll experience “additional story elements, cut-scenes, and battle strategies that are exclusive to this mode.”
Of course, you’ll also be able to craft weapons by collecting parts and then using the game’s upgraded weapon building system to craft the perfect tool with which you can dispatch your enemies. And trust us, you’re going to need one hell of a weapon to get through the Necromorph infested planet.
From everything we’ve heard and seen, Dead Space 3 is looking to be an early GOTY contender. The first two entries in the series were excellent pieces of survival-horror gaming and the third iteration looks to be even better. It seems that the team at Visceral Games is really making some serious improvements for round three and judging by the demo that is currently on the XBOX Live Marketplace, I don’t think we have anything to worry about with this one.
Dead Space 3 will hit store shelves on February 5th, check out the launch trailer below and let us know in the comments if you’ll be picking up the game.
