Evil ‘The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’ players have turned the game into a Korok torture machine

This is no way for the hero of Hyrule to behave!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is here and it’s wonderful. Players all around the world are delighting in exploring Hyrule, searching for the missing Princess Zelda, and solving its many puzzles. One of the best things about the game is the new Ultrahand power, which lets Link manipulate and glue together almost anything he wants, opening the door to an infinite amount of creative puzzle solutions.

But… with this freedom has come a dark side. Koroks are adorable little forest creatures who’re dotted around the land, asking Link to use his powers to return them to their nearby friends. But it seems not everyone out there wants to play the noble hero:

How could they just leave the little guy up there to suffer for Hyrule’s sins?! This is no way for a swordsman of legend to behave! Some have gone even further, attempting to turn the game into a full-on “Korok Abuse Simulator”:

We’re equal parts horrified and impressed, particularly with the truly sinister flame-grilled Korok kebab barbecue. Then again, their previous appearance in Breath of the Wild saw players trolled by receiving a golden turd from them after painstakingly collecting 999 Korok Seeds, so perhaps they had it coming.

Tears of the Kingdom has only been out for a few days, so we’re nervously anticipating what other demented Korok torture devices will emerge from the gaming subconscious. Either way, it’s not looking like a great time for these cute little forest dwellers in Hyrule right now.
