Kicking off on April 18th, EA’s first-person shooter will pit the Empire against the Ewoks of Endor in a battle straight out of Return Of The Jedi. Very much akin to the Infection game mode in the Call of Duty series, once a Stormtrooper has been defeated, they respawn as an Ewok until the whole of the Empire’s forces have been wiped out.

Here’s the official rundown direct from EA:

The ambush begins as Ewoks attack unsuspecting stormtroopers, using spears, Wisties, and other skills to take down their opponents. Each stormtrooper defeated spawns as another Ewok, multiplying until the Empire’s forces have been completely eliminated, and the Ewok celebration can begin. However, the stormtroopers’ superior training and firepower are more than a match for the Ewoks. Armed with a cadre of weapons as well as flashlights to pierce the darkness, players must hold back the Ewok’s ambush if they have a hope of surviving until an extraction team can arrive.

Infection-style modes like these are always interesting to play, as they usually culminate in one lone survivor battling against a horde of other player-controlled adversaries in panic-inducing chaos. Frankly, Ewok Hunt sounds like a whole lot of fun and we can’t wait to try it out.

Though Star Wars Battlefront II has seen its fair share of controversy — due to borked multiplayer progression systems, heinous micro transactions, lousy loot-boxes, and a general lack of polish — EA has gutted most of the aforementioned problems from its game in a bid to save face. Whether these changes were enough, well, that’s still very much up for debate. Nevertheless, unique events like these are definitely a step in the right direction, right?
