We’ve just been blessed with a lovely throwback to gaming greats of old with the Rare Replay Collection, but with it comes some particularly sad news – especially if you’re a Conker fan.

In an interview that’s available to watch for owners of the compilation, the lead designer for Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Chris Seavor, states that a sequel to the game is unlikely to ever happen, for multiple reasons. Chief among them the fact that some of the content is “shocking.”

I probably would change some of the stuff now. The obvious one is the sunflower. That whole sequence is like, nope. I couldn’t do that again.

If it was made now and if it was the same team it wouldn’t… I don’t think we’d do a game that people would want because they’d want the original Conker. But we’re not the people to make that game, ironically, because we’ve changed. My tastes have changed and I’ve moved on.

You’d have a hard time getting it made now so the only way for anyone to play it is to play the original because I don’t think there’s going to be anything like it again.

Those are pretty damning words as far as a sequel is concerned. Sorry, Conker fans, it looks like your only chance of ever getting a sequel to Conker’s Bad Fur Day is if Microsoft ever decide to reboot the series with an entirely new development team.
