Who could forget that insatiable thirst to double the speed limit after watching The Fast and the Furious back in 2001? Firebrand Games (NASCAR Unleashed) apparently has’t forgotten their lust for speed, as they are now rumored to be developing a game for the upcoming summer blockbuster. According to a listing by EB Games that has since been taken down, a tie-in game to the upcoming Fast and Furious 6 is currently in the making. The Nintendo Wii U will allegedly receive the game on May 15th, with the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 following suit on May 22nd.

Further validating the story is an M-rating from the Australian Ratings board (perhaps not so surprising since it’s Australia rating the game). For the curious, the “official” synopsis from the listing calls the game “the definitive Fast & Furious experience of racing, heists & teamwork.”

Apparently, you’ll be able to tackle story missions in co-op, performing heists and capping domes in shootouts. The game is set to focus on, according to the listing, “events from Fast 5 and earlier movies to the upcoming Fast 6 movie.”

If you’re at all familiar with the gaming industry, then you know movie tie-ins are nothing to get excited about at all. In this case, you should especially be weary seeing as this is a movie tie-in that’s supposedly out in two months and hasn’t even been announced yet.

Neither its alleged publisher Activision nor its rumored developer have announced anything about the project yet and, as of this reporting, it’s already March 15th. Sure, co-op tends to always be a plus and that may very well be the case here, but how much polish could this game possibly have? And when a single game aims to cover six movies, you can pretty much forget about it being a AAA-blockbuster.

So what do you make of this? Are you excited at the prospect of a Fast and Furious 6 game tie-in? Let us know in the comments below.
