Taking place in the war-torn land of Orience, the central plot will revolve around Class Zero, an elite group of 14 warriors. Gameplay will combine elements of action, exploration, and strategy, and every member of Class Zero, each with unique abilities, will be playable in real-time battles. They will also be able to train and enhance their skills between missions at their home base of Academia.

Up to three individual Class Zero members can be brought into each battle, and will be able to harness and upgrade powers based around classic Final Fantasy elements like fire, ice, and lightning. Powerful creatures called eidolons can be obtained throughout the campaign and summoned to use in battle as well. There will also be strategy-centric battles where fighters assist troops in large scale fights. Finally, Square Enix also confirmed that a secret new cinematic will be included in the game and unlocked when a player meets certain requirements.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be available March 17 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with access to the demo Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae included in the limited Day One edition.
