Winter is coming.

Today marks the release of new screenshots for Cyanide Studio‘s upcoming Game of Thrones video game. Taking the form of an action RPG, it will allow fans of George R. R. Martin‘s famous book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, to fight against those who threaten the thrown and its values. Honor, deception, swordplay and murder are not strangers towards this world, which makes it a great license for this style of game.

Instead of following the well-known fiction verbatim, the development team has worked alongside its author, in order to create a brand new story within the universe. It’ll be interesting to experience how that pans out, as there are so many opportunities for secondary storylines within the written text.

Below, you will also find the Game of Thrones video game’s latest trailer. Simply entitled, Winter, it gives us a look at some of the digitally-realized locations that we’ve read about and/or seen on TV. It also briefly introduces the narrative’s themes and its related gameplay mechanics.

Sorry, the video is currently unavailable.

ATLUS is expected to release Game of Thrones in the early part of this calendar year. It will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
