Fresh out of Gamescom, SEGA has dropped a brand new Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed trailer on the unsuspecting, ever-grateful public.

The game is scheduled for release in North America on November 20th of this year and is, yep, you guessed it, yet another kart racer starring video game mascots. But wait, let me finish. The title won’t only feature kart racing though, it will also include boats and planes. Could this be the spiritual sequel to Diddy Kong Racing we have all been waiting for? I’ll let you decide that.

As for things we didn’t expect, SEGA’s got them in spades this time around. Your kart can transform into a boat or a plane and vice-versa on the fly. Ah, okay, that’s pretty much it for things you wouldn’t expect in a kart racer, and I suppose even that is stretching it pretty thin.

But wait! It must be noted that, even though it’s got your typical mascot characters (a new character being the dwarf from Golden Axe!), there is one glaring addition that I cannot seem to wrap my head around: Danica Patrick.

Yes, you can drive as Indycar and NASCAR lady-driver Danica Patrick. Why? I do not know.

Her name does not evoke any particular SEGA all-star feeling, but she knows a thing or two about racing. So, of course, she belongs in the game. Look for her and the rest of the storied SEGA all-stars this November.

If you need any further persuasion, remember SEGA’s tagline for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed: “It’s not just racing, it’s racing transformed.”
