The appearance of a new website advertising jobs for a new Gearbox Software studio has appeared online, but what games is it going to be developing? Gearbox Studio Quebec, as the site states, is a new studio opened in Canada, and is clearly quite new – they have 16 job openings that need to be filled.

The site’s short blurb simply says:

Gearbox Software is searching for the best video game developers, artists and designers to join its new studio in Quebec City! If you have what it takes to work with some of the most creative and talented minds in the industry, apply now!

Details concerning what the new studio will be developing are painfully slim as it stands, but several sources suggest that work has begun on a new “1st person action game.”

Before the rampant speculation inevitably begins, it’s probably safe to rule out a Borderlands spinoff of any sort. Gearbox have already announced that a next-gen sequel to Borderlands 2 is in the works, and between that and Battleborn, they’re sure to have their hands full.

Could the mystery game be a sequel to Duke Nukem Forever? Gearbox have been widely expected to announce a new game in the series ever since the release of Forever, but news has been quiet for a while now.

As usual, we’ll just have to sit tight and twiddle our thumbs before Gearbox are ready to talk more about what the new studio are working on. We’ll let you know when we know though.
