Like all other publishers in the industry, Take Two is whipping its E3 showing into shape, and one of the biggest titles on the publisher’s roster is Gearbox Software’s upcoming hero shooter Battleborn, which will reportedly have a “big” showcase at this year’s trade show.

Speaking during an earnings call to investors, the company touched upon the status of the game’s development, along with some of the features fans can expect when the new IP releases at some point next year.

“Currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC by Borderlands creators Gearbox Software, Battleborn is a first-person shooter with a deep roster of unique playable heroes. Through the game’s accelerated character growth system, every hero can be fully experienced in a single story mission or multiplayer match. Next month Battleborn will be at E3 in a big way and we will have more news to share about the title prior to the show.”

At the time of writing, it’s unclear exactly when Battleborn will be released onto those aforementioned platforms. If an earlier report is to be believed, Gearbox’s MOBA-esque shooter will make its bow sometime before March 31, 2016, though whether that slates the release date for later this year or the beginning of next is up in the air. Given the way in which Take Two has trumpeted the game’s presence at E3 2015, we can readily expect that question to be answered, along with further details regarding gameplay and the like when the event kicks off in earnest on June 15.

This tidbit comes hot on the heels of another speculative report hinting that Take Two has an all-new triple-A title waiting in the wings, and will allegedly be unveiled alongside Battleborn next month. For now, all we know is that E3 2015 could prove crucial for Gearbox’s bold genre mash-up.
