Olympus Games announced its new Kickstarter project today, GMOD, which is a mod management tool. Their goal is to improve mod access for casual gamers and eliminate unzipping, directory diving, copy-paste-overwriting, and game re-installations.
So far, a GMOD beta version successfully launched support for Torchlight, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and a few other Bethesda titles. With their Kickstarter, Olympus Games intends on bringing GMOD to a number of other mainstream games such as Crysis, World of Warcraft and Grand Theft Auto IV.
GMOD includes a library function for syncing current mods, mod news, improved browsing controls, and the resources to create your own mods. Mods can be enabled/disabled with a single click and dropped into the client from any source without any additional work.
Not only is Olympus Games supporting mod users, but they’re also supporting developers. Once GMOD goes live, a percentage of all subscription proceeds will be distributed to the mod developers and certain mods will periodically be showcased during livestream events.
The Kickstarter goal for GMOD is currently $75,000. We’ll keep you posted when we hear more on this interesting project.
