2) Forza Horizon 3
Going into E3 2016, my fingers were crossed in hope and anticipation of a new Forza Horizon game reveal. I’d read the rumours and speculation regarding a sequel that would be set in Australia, but with nothing concrete to go on, I tried not to let myself go all in. After all, not every E3 rumour comes to fruition. Just take the Red Dead Redemption (remaster and sequel) rumours as an example.
When Microsoft officially revealed Forza Horizon 3, I was in gamer’s heaven. That’s because, not only did it end up looking great, but its reveal confirmed that one of my all-time favourite series is coming back, hopefully better than ever before. Furthermore, the chosen setting of Australia works perfectly for me, as it’s a place that I’ve always dreamt of visiting.
Being able to go hands-on with Forza Horizon 3 was something I looked forward to as soon as it was announced, and I did that on my very first day on E3 2016’s show floor. I didn’t brave the Microsoft booth during the day, but was lucky enough to not have to wait (at all) when I visited it as part of an after hours party for international media. In fact, almost as soon as that party opened, I scoped out Horizon‘s station, and took up residence in front of one of its demo kiosks for an experience that was well worth the wait.
