Bungie has revealed all of the new gear you’ll be earning in Destiny‘s April Update in their latest stream, and boy, is there a lot of it. Besides revisiting some of the new, updated content we’d already been told about (see here) in the previous stream last week, Bungie delivered on their promise of revealing all of the new gear Guardians will be chasing when the update goes live on April 12 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

New sets of armour for Titan, Hunter and Warlock will be added to the upgraded Prison Of Elders challenge, which will pit players against ‘Takenified’ versions of existing bosses, and a new item – Sterling Treasure – will be added as a reward for various activities on a weekly basis.

The mysterious containers will have the chance to reward new ‘Chroma’ items that can “further customize your Guardian,” as well as the aforementioned Taken-themed gear. Only three of these can be earned per week, but additional Treasures can be purchased with real money from the Eververse Store.

On top of all that, Bungie will be changing the way Light infusion works, as well as introducing a new batch of updated Exotic and Legendary gear.

See the full details below:

  • LOOT & INFUSION
All roads lead to more powerful gear. New and updated rewards have been added to all high level activities. Infusion now upgrades gear to the existing Light of the consumed item directly.
  • CHROMA CUSTOMIZATION
Chroma is a new feature that can be applied to select sets of gear and weapons to further customize your Guardian.
  • TAKEN-THEMED GEAR
Taken-themed Gear can also be earned, and a full set of Desolate Armor will unlock a unique Taken “Shiver” emote.
  • STERLING TREASURE
Both Chroma and Taken-themed gear can be found in Sterling Treasures. Three Sterling Treasures can be obtained each week by visiting the Postmaster after each weekly reset, successfully completing one Level 41 Prison of Elders activity, and completing one match in the featured Weekly Crucible Playlist.
  • Additional Sterling Treasures can also be purchased via Tess Everis in the Eververse Trading Company stores.
  • UPDATED FACTION & PRISON OF ELDERS GEAR
Faction packages will now contain select Chroma-enabled versions of their Legendary armor
sets at up to 330 Light. Updated Prison of Elders Legendary Gear is also Chroma-enabled and can
drop at up to 335 Light in Challenge of the Elders.
  • UPDATED EXOTICS & LEGENDARIES
  • NEW EVERVERSE ITEMS
Eververse expands into the Reef with a newly refreshed stock of customization items.
Sterling Treasures and brand new Emotes are available. You can view all the new items of Eververse here.

We have to say, Destiny‘s April Update sounds more and more impressive the more we see of it and, while a lot of the content being introduced is purely a rejigging of existing playlists and re-skins of previous assets, it’s commendable that Bungie is offering the lot for free to all players.

Will it be enough to tide fans over until Destiny 2, though? We’ll see.
