Epic Games has wasted no time in launching players into the thick of Battle Island’s new content with the battle royale’s latest gameplay refresh. Eager you might be, to take a tour of all the new points of interest littered around the map, there’ll be time for that later – the first batch of Battle Pass challenges is already live and waiting to reward your efforts. As always, players can expect each miniature quest to test their knowledge and mastery of the game, though given the aforementioned geographical adjustments, even veterans will have some learning to do this time around.

One such task sure to raise eyebrows will be the Battle Pass-exclusive Staged Challenge to damage other players from varying heights. From two, four and six stories high, you’ll need to deal 300, 200 and 100 damage respectively, though fear not – there’s a new location dedicated solely to helping you achieve that feat. Perched slightly Southwest of Battle Island’s centre you’ll find NEO Tilted. This newly-established metropolis is crammed with several multi-story buildings perfect for helping you earn those early first few Battle Stars.

Those struggling to find the new settlement – or the whereabouts of other challenge locations, for that matter – can see the cheat sheet below, courtesy of Fortnite Insider.

To account for the new blood likely joining the fight with Season 9, Epic has largely kept the difficulty of Week 1’s challenges on a tight leash, though they’ll by no means be a walk in the park. In these early days, players in their droves will flock to certain ‘hot spots’ in-game in order to complete the tasks laid out for them and, just like Season 8’s Pirate Camps, you’ll need to have your wits about you when visiting its successor’s newly-added Sky platforms. Besides that, the expected weapon elimination and treasure-hunting activities return, alongside the requirement to pick up a Legendary item in five different matches.

That’s a wrap for Week 1, then, but be sure to report back and let us know in the usual place below your early impressions of Fortnite Season 9!
