Creator of the Metal Gear series Hideo Kojima has lifted the curtain on the official mascot for his new Kojima Productions studio. In a series of Tweets published earlier today (via VideoGamer), the former Konami employee revealed an image of Ludens alongside the caption: “LUDENS, the icon of Kojima Productions.”

We’ll deliver THE NEW PLAY in THE NEW FUTURE with the cutting-edge equipment, technology, & the frontier spirit. The gear he’s wearing is the extra-vehicular activity (EVA) creative suit.

You can see the image below of the futuristic-looking soldier, who’s sporting the same-shaped helmet as the one seen in the company logo.

Kojima doesn’t make any mention of whether Ludens will feature as a character in the studio’s first game to be released exclusively on PlayStation 4, but he/she/it certainly looks the part for a title that has been confirmed to feature mechs of some variety.

In a previous interview with Famitsu, Kojima described the unnamed IP as one that would appeal to fans of “today’s AAA titles such as The Division and Uncharted.”

I won’t say that it’s an open-world title, but those that enjoy playing today’s AAA titles such as The Division and Uncharted will be able to play it smoothly. Some parts are very new, so I’ll need to experiment with it. When it gets announced some may think that it’s not as way-out as they had expected, but I’m sure they’ll understand once they play it.

With E3 on the horizon, we can’t imagine we’ll have to wait too long to hear (and hopefully see) more on Kojima Productions‘ first game.
