NetherRealm's creative director Ed Boon has taken to Twitter to tease a "bizarre" addition to the Injustice 2 character roster. Or is it merely a skin?

The creative director of NetherRealm Studios paid a visit to San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend to showcase Starfire in action (see above), and we understand the fan-favorite Tamaranian is expected to enlist in the ever-growing character roster of Injustice 2 sometime next month.

But there’s another newcomer on the horizon, according to Boon’s tantalizing Tweet, which points to the addition of Bizarro. Superman’s alter-ego has long been linked with NetherRealm’s mascot brawler, and the official Injustice Twitter account only added fuel to the fire earlier today by releasing the below image, alongside the caption, “Bizarro number one, not Superman!”

Equipped with frost vision and heat breath – the inverse of the Man of Steel, essentially – Injustice 2 players are already itching to put Bizarro to the test, though it’s worth keeping in mind that all of this commotion may serve as a primer for a new character skin, rather than a playable fighter. Stay tuned for more on that front.

That being said, we’re inclined to believe that Bizarro will be integrated into the world of Injustice 2 as a playable fighter. Ed Boon has been hinting at the addition of an “unexpected” character, so there’s a good chance NetherRealm will announce Superman’s alter-ego sooner rather than later. Either that, or Boon and Co. are about to usher in another brawler – someone from outside the DC archives, perhaps?

What do you think, though? Is Bizarro poised to become the next addition to the Injustice 2 character roster after Starfire? Or is the team at NetherRealm merely banging the drum for a new skin based on Superman’s infamous doppelgänger? You can share your predictions via the usual place and remember, Starfire is set to launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC users sometime next month.
