Kalypso Media is bringing El Presidente back in the upcoming Tropico 5. The city builder will be coming to the Xbox 360, Windows PC, MAC and Linux this Summer and later on in 2014 for the PlayStation 4.
As El Presidente, you will take control of the island starting in the colonial period of 1800, where you will have to not only guide it through the following centuries, but also decide which members of your family deserve to work alongside you in the new “Dynasties” feature.
In order to ensure your legacy lives on for as long as possible, you will need to promote the members of your extended family into assorted roles such as ambassador or commanding general. These choices will determine whether or not your dynasty will rule through the rest of time or become another footnote in the history of Tropico.
Sporting all new artwork built from scratch, Tropico 5 will also introduce a variety of new features, such as island exploration, new trading mechanics and scientific research trees. Perhaps most importantly, though, is that this entry in the series will be the first to introduce multiplayer to the proceedings. Both competitive and cooperative multiplayer will be included, although as of right now Kalypso has not clarified how these modes will work.
We will continue to have coverage of Tropico 5 in the lead-up to its Summer release date. For now, take a look at the trailer posted below and let us know if you are interested in the continued adventures of El Presidente.
