With the holidays fast approaching, Microsoft has unveiled January’s Games With Gold lineup a little earlier than anticipated, confirming that World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap and Killer Instinct Season 2 Ultra Edition will headline next month’s selection of digital freebies – for Xbox Live Gold members, at least.

Typically priced at $19.99, Deathtrap will be available to download for the entire month of January, while Killer Instinct Season 2 is expected to join Microsoft’s roster on January 16. It’ll remain on the lineup right through until February 15.

Switching gears to Xbox 360, Double Fine’s stylish adventure game The Cave will go live on Sunday, January 1, and will be free for subscription holders through until January 15. Rayman Origins will then swoop in to occupy that vacant slot the following day, January 16, before bowing out of Microsoft’s Games With Gold lineup on January 31.

Comprised of titles from both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 libraries, remember that all four games will be playable on Xbox One thanks to the hardware’s backwards compatibility feature. What’s more, there’s still time to grab last month’s Games With Gold offerings, which include Burnout Paradise and Outlast, Red Barrel’s nerve-shredding horror hit that founds its success rewarded with a sequel. Look for that one to slither on to consoles and PC mid-way through 2017.

Tell us, what are your thoughts on January’s Games With Gold lineup? Indeed, is there one title in particular that you can’t wait to get your hands on? Do let us know.
