For fans of the Kingdom Hearts series, the long, long wait for the proper third entry in the series may finally be in its home stretch, because Square Enix has just confirmed Kingdom Hearts III for the PS4.
Details are scarce, but after showing a brief retrospective of previous games in the series, a short gameplay montage was revealed, featuring series protagonist Sora with a spiffy new character model picking up his Keyblade once again and running through a town from a veritable legion of pesky Heartless drones.
If I had to guess, I’d say that development in the title is still in its early stages, due to the main Kingdom Hearts team still having to finish up Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but it’s an encouraging sign that Square Enix has officially confirmed the much-anticipated threequel. Here’s to hoping we won’t have to wait too long for it.
[Update] Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto has recently confirmed at a company press conference that the game will also be making its way to the Xbox One.
