EA made the announcement, from Gamescom in Cologne, that their upcoming action RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning would be making its way to Europe and North America in February 2012.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is developed by 38 Studios subsidiary Big Huge Games and is an action RPG that takes place in a world created by two people you may be familiar with: New York Times best-selling author R.A. Salvatore (The Icewind Dale Trilogy) and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. In addition, the creation of the title is being helmed by Ken Rolston, lead designer of Elder Scrolls III and Oblivion.
Gamers in Europe can expect to see Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning on store shelves February 10, 2012, while North American gamers will be able to pick up the game on February 7th.
As a fan of RPGs in general, I am looking forward to this game, especially with R.A Salvatore and Todd McFarlane chipping in to help. Although, I just hope it doesn’t end up like Todd McFarlane’s Evil Prophecy. Anyone remember that game?
Big Huge Games is another one of those things that I wonder about. They have good games under their belt, take Rise of Nations for example, but it’s how they will hold up with Reckoning that I wonder about. That being said, the game did receive a fair amount of praise during E3 earlier this year, which is hopefully a good sign.
I guess we’ll find out come February. What do you think? Looking forward to this one?
