Even if it never gets the renewal fans are looking for, it’s safe to say Warrior Nun made its mark on the world.

The hugely-popular fantasy series was canceled by Netflix back in November of 2022, and the campaign to bring it back hasn’t slowed down since. Fans are taking to the streets across the globe, and even erecting billboards to spread the good word. It’s yet to make any difference, but people are certainly paying attention.

There’s quite a bit happening in the world of The Lord of the Rings too, thanks to Warner Bros’ announcement of new material, Amazon Prime’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and now a video game centered around Gollum. The upcoming video game is set to release sometime this year, and an early look at the story hints toward a surprisingly intriguing title. Screw fighting as graceful Elves, powerful Dwarves, or legions of men, this year skirting the shadows and exploring dingy caves is all the rage.

Rings of Power didn’t quite meet fan expectations, and some fans are leery of Gollum as well, but Amazon hit the nail on the head with its adaptation of Good Omens. The hugely popular first season dazzled fans and critics alike, and a reminder of another Neil Gaiman project is getting fans excited over Gormenghast.

Gollum shows off his skills in a long-awaited trailer for the character’s new game

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Few people would place Gollum on a top ten list of Lord of the Rings characters, but we’re not getting a game centered around Aragorn or Gandalf later this year. Instead, we’ll have the chance to explore Middle-earth as Gollum as he works to hunt down his lost Precious. The game promises to include nods toward fan favorite J.R.R. Tolkien characters and locations, in a story told from the most unexpected viewpoint.

The dedicated fan campaign behind Warrior Nun has yet to succeed in renewing the show, but it continues to pick up steam around the globe. Few fan campaigns last this long, and even fewer manage to secure billboards in three separate countries. The campaign has made its goal clear via billboards erected in New York City, London, and now Milan, Italy, as fans continue to push for the show’s renewal.

Celebrated author Neil Gaiman has his name attached to some of television’s biggest projects at the moment – between his ties to Netflix’s The Sandman and Amazon Prime’s Good Omens. He reminded fans recently of another project he still hopes to make, despite the fact that most people forgot all about it. Gaiman’s name was attached to a Gormenghast adaptation all the way back in 2019, but the years since have seen little development on the project. When asked about its prospects, however, Gaiman expressed that he still hopes to see the project come to fruition.
