Devoid of several key features like trading, battling and endgame systems, developer Niantic has since taken great lengths in order to find and implement those missing pieces to the puzzle. Indeed, three years on from its troubled launch, Trainers are spoilt for choice in how they choose to spend their time in-game. Regular events, special community days and, of course, new Pokémon continue to be added in order to keep players coming back for more.

The studio most recently kicked off a special commemorative occasion featuring none other than Armored Mewtwo but that’s just the ice-breaker for what’s next. As per seasoned Pokémon Go leaker Chrales, a host of files have been excavated from the augmented reality title’s latest update revealing something rather special indeed. A host of so-called Shadow Pokémon represent the major discovery, all of which not only boasts an evil new look but exclusive abilities to boot. As for when Pokéfans can expect to see these mysterious doppelgangers start appearing in the wild – nobody knows, though it’s not too difficult to make an educated guess. Over the last few days, The Pokémon Company and Niantic have collectively been teasing the imminent arrival of Team Rocket to Pokémon Go and what more suited pairing is there than a villainous group and a slew of suitably-themed ‘Mons?

Assuming the above is accurate, it nevertheless remains a mystery as to what exactly Team Rocket’s inclusion will entail. Will players be able to battle the infamous Giovanni?
