Whisking fans of the popular survival mode back to the 1940s, Black Ops III‘s Zombies will once again boast a star-studded ensemble, with this iteration featuring the voice and performance capture from Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough and Ron Perlman. Shadows of Evil is the name, and slaying the undead is the game.

But Treyarch has assured fans that the mode isn’t a simple palette swap of what has come before; rather, the Zombies Mode in Black Ops III will feature a dark noir storyline that fleshes out the action beyond simply mowing down waves of undead. Not only will it give fans impetus to, you know, actually invest in the characters, but it lends Treyarch’s period setting a real sense of personality, which shines through in today’s sizzle reel.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will launch across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 6. Treyarch’s shooter is also on course for a release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but it’ll be without a single-player campaign.

Shadows of Evil introduces four unwitting characters who must uncover the secrets and challenges laid out for them by a shadowy figure, who offers them a path to redemption. Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, and Ron Perlman star in Shadows of Evil, a new survival co-op experience only available in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Unravel the secrets and explore a massive 1940s, film noir-inspired world in the deepest Zombies experience to date.
