Electronic Arts has announced that they will release the Mass Effect Trilogy (a compilation box set containing Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3) on the PC and Xbox 360 on November 6th, for $59.99. A PS3 version will follow on a “later date”.

Coinciding with the launch of the Mass Effect Trilogy, the original Mass Effect will also be released digitally as a standalone title on the PSN, marking the first time that the game will be available on the PlayStation 3.

Interestingly, the timing of the release date for the trilogy is few short months before Mass Effect 3 releases on the Wii U. Additionally, the extremely consumer friendly price point of $59.99 for the Mass Effect Trilogy matches the exact price of the ME 3 port.

I’m no marketing guru, but if this was the plan all along EA should have just announced the trilogy box set for Wii U, instead of sending the lone third title out to die on Nintendo’s upcoming console.
