Microsoft kicked off its E3 presser this morning with an all-new look at what is surely its biggest exclusive of 2015, Halo 5: Guardians.
Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries got the ball rolling by teasing some of the story elements we can expect this October on Xbox One, revolving around the concept of Master Chief as a wanted fugitive. The sizzle reel itself is dripping with atmosphere, and the arenas on display are impressive, with the studio claiming that alien environments are up to four times bigger than any area previously glimpsed in a Halo campaign.
Speaking of which, Guardians‘ story has been built with drop-in, drop-out cooperative play in mind, and the dynamic between wanted-outlaw Master Chief and Spartan Jameson Locke, the soldier on the hunt for the franchise’s wayward leading star.
During this month’s Game Informer coverage, 343 hinted at a brand new multiplayer mode making its way into Halo 5: Guardians. Today, we got our first glimpse of the new-fangled feature. Warzone is a mode that will support up to 24 players, one that will also bring in AI-controlled adversaries in the vein of Titanfall. This comes hot on the heels of the announcement that a string of map packs for Guardians will be released free of charge after its October release.
Halo 5: Guardians will launch exclusively for Xbox One on October 27, and we’ll have all the coverage on 343’s shooter for you right here on We Got This Covered. In the meantime, check out Warzone in action through the gameplay clip above.
