Another hero is primed to join the ranks of Paragon‘s existing roster of heroes next week, Epic Games has announced. Master swordsman Kwang, who looks like a combination of Mortal Kombat‘s Raiden and Liu Kang, will be available to use for free in the MOBA’s open beta period starting October 4.
Described as a durable fighter that “excels at initiating,” Kwang can “utilize his Legendary Blade to change how and where he uses his abilities.” As with all existing characters, Kwang has four core abilities that will be unlocked as you progress through each match, and by the looks of the trailer (above), nowhere is safe when he’s on the battlefield.
Light of the Heavens is Kwang’s starting ability, which conjures beams of light to strike his sword, dealing effect damage around the impact area and granting both physical and energy-based armor, both of which you’ll need if you want to make the most of his next attack.
Judgement of the Heavens sees the swordsman lob his sword through the air to a specified area. Upon landing, all enemies in range are tethered to the blade, setting up a great ambush scenario for your teammates. The sword stays rooted in place until Kwang re-triggers it or uses a basic attack.
On the non-offensive front, Gift of the Heavens causes the sword to burst with light, granting lifesteal to all allies in the immediate area.
Finally, Fury of the Heavens is a huge AoE ability that causes heavy damage and slow effects to all enemies in the vicinity. If Kwang has already thrown his sword previously, triggering the attack will cause him to teleport to the weapon before going on the offensive.
As of now, Epic hasn’t given a firm release date for Paragon, but the beta receives content updates on a regular basis, including new characters every three weeks.
