The multiplayer component for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainMetal Gear Online – releases for PC tomorrow, but it’s still only a beta. Kojima Productions LA community manager Robert Peeler revealed on Steam that owners of the game on Valve’s platform can “opt in and download the Beta release of Metal Gear Online” right now and get ready for when access begins tonight at 10pm Pacific Time.

But don’t jump the gun and expect that time to be final, as Peeler says that there’s every chance that the date could be delayed by unforeseen circumstances.

While that’s our target time, there’s a chance it’ll slip by an hour or two as we implement this awaited update but rest assured we will be here for support and launch as planned.

It’s been a long wait, and we absolutely appreciate the support we’ve received not just from MGO fans but also our passionate Steam community. Seriously, you all are amazing!

Despite a colossal spate of questionable news stories coming out of Konami over the last 12 months, including a supposed falling out between themselves and Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, the closure of their LA studio and the cancellation of Silent Hills, it seems Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has miraculously managed to emerge on the other side relatively unscathed.

Sure, Metal Gear Online may not be seeing the full release on PC tomorrow as many had perhaps hoped for, but it’s still something, right?
