More Evidence Suggests Nintendo’s Pokémon Switch Announcement Is Imminent

One Twitter source claims that the all-new Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch will be announced imminently – just not as soon as Pokémon Day 2019.

For all of its trailblazing success and AAA exclusives, the Nintendo Switch has been left waiting for two of the company’s biggest franchises: Pokémon and Animal Crossing, the latter of which is expected to debut at E3 2019.

So while Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee helped scratch an itch late last year, Switch owners are still waiting with bated breath for the first full-fledged Pokémon game to hit the hybrid console.

Common logic dictates that an announcement may be timed for this year’s Pokémon Day bonanza (February 27th, for those keeping track), but according to one online tipster, chances are the Big N will hold fire until March or perhaps April before unveiling their next Poké title to the world.

Now, you may be wondering why on Earth we’d base a story on a throwaway tweet. But if you’ve been keeping a close eye on the ‘@muguwus’ Twitter feed you’ll know that this is the same source that tends to post reams of information about each Nintendo Switch event before they happen – most of which proves to be factually sound.

He/she was also pretty accurate in predicting the specifications of the Nintendo Switch itself long before it released to market, so if anything, this guestimation is worth bearing in mind as we approach Pokémon Day and March 2019. Besides, with such a massive Switch install base already in place – to date, the company has sold more than 32 million pieces of hardware – it’s really a question of when, rather than if, a new mainline Pokémon game will see the warm light of day.
