After being hinted at earlier in the week, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today that Mortal Kombat X will be receiving a second batch of downloadable content next year. NetherRealm Studios’ gory sequel, which was just canceled on last-gen consoles, launched earlier this year on current-gen consoles to critical acclaim.
Specifics weren’t made available at this time, however, we do know that the second grouping of DLC will feature not only new combatants and costumes, but also a new environment. Unfortunately, we are going to have wait a little bit before Ed Boon and company are ready to talk about which characters made the cut this time around.
Since we have little information to go on, speculation has already run rampant on what could be included in this upcoming release. One of the more logical theories is that we’ll be seeing the release of the likes of Rain and Baraka, who were among a few characters that made appearances in the Mortal Kombat X storyline, but were strangely not playable.
Hopefully, this second Kombat Pack follows in the footsteps of the first, which I thought was worth the cost. The four additional fighters, which included past Mortal Kombat characters such as Tanya, as well as Jason Voorhees and Predator, were worthy inclusions. As goofy as they were, I was also a fan of the various costumes the season pass came bundled with.
