New Injustice 2 Trailer Provides First Glimpse Of Poison Ivy In Action

Following on from yesterday’s reveal of Swamp Thing, NetherRealm Studios has today released a further trailer for Injustice 2, this time dedicating every second of screen time to the beat ’em up’s female cast.

Cheetah, Catwoman, Black Canary and Poison Ivy all star in the video, the latter of which gets her debut gameplay during its run time. One of the most prominent members of Batman’s Rogues Gallery, Ivy, unsurprisingly, looks as if she’ll be sticking true to her name by utilizing various types of flora in battle, including giant pillars made of vines that elevate her above opponents. A very brief glimpse of what appears to be the villain’s ultimate attack – an overgrown monstrosity that can only be described as a more grotesque version of Final Fantasy‘s Malboro enemy – also features, with poor Atrocitus being on the receiving end.

Currently in beta, Injustice 2 is scheduled for a May 16 launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but you can expect many, many more character reveals to come and go in the lead-up to release day. All the big names – Superman, Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Robin – have already been confirmed to appear in Injustice 2, but with Ed Boon promising (and so far delivering) on his promise to include some of DC’s more obscure characters, it’s anyone’s guess who’s up next.

The total character count currently stands at 19, which is just shy of the amount NetherRealm made available for Mortal Kombat X at launch, so there’s certainly room for a few more.
