Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Pops Up On Steam Greenlight

While 2014 will likely be remembered in the gaming world for high profile titles such as Destiny and the on-going Gamergate controversy, one of the biggest surprises of the year has been Five Nights at Freddy's. While 2014 will likely be remembered in the gaming world for high profile titles such as Destiny and the on-going Gamergate controversy, one of the biggest surprises of the year has been Five Nights at Freddy’s. The unique survival horror game has achieved quite the following, and earlier today, developer Scott Cawthon revealed the tentatively titled Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

Taking place following the events of the original game, Freddy’s 2 will once again be set in the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurant. Instead of having to deal with one set of animatronics this time around, however, players will have to deal with two sets and a total of eight robots. The eight includes the four returning robots, which have been abandoned since the events of the first game, as well as the upgraded versions of those characters.

The core gameplay, which revolved around defending yourself by carefully watching a security camera and switching off lights, will return. However, there is at least one notable change announced so far. Instead of being able to hide behind security doors, the main line of defense players will have is the ability to wear a fake Freddy head. This will supposedly fool the robots into leaving you alone, but somehow I doubt it is that easy.

While I certainly thought the original was scary, I hope Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has a little more content this time around. Once you got past the terrifying jump scares of the original, I’m not sure it was actually any fun to play. Hopefully this sequel will feature some more variety.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is scheduled to be released in 2015 for Windows PC.
