Nintendo announced at its Jan. 12 presentation that its newest console, the Switch, will launch worldwide on March 3 for an MSRP of $299.99 USD/$399.99 CAD. The company released a bevy of other information about the upcoming home console/handheld hybrid as well, including the contents of the box that lucky Nintendo fans will be able to take home on launch day — in addition to the dock and the device itself, consumers will find a left and right Joy-Con controller, two Joy-Con wrist straps, the Joy-Con grip, an HDMI cable and AC adapter.
There will be two separate versions available for launch; one will come with two grey Joy-Con controllers (which then match the aesthetic of the console, grip and dock), while the other will liven things up a bit by offering one Neon Blue and one Neon Red Joy-Con. Both go for the suggested retail price of $299.99.
Those who can’t wait to get their hands on the new home console-handheld hybrid will have several opportunities to try it out — provided they can reach one of six cities currently on Nintendo’s “Preview Tour” schedule. The current lineup will see the Switch coming to New York City on Jan. 15; Toronto on Jan. 29; Washington, D.C. on Feb. 12; Chicago on Feb. 19; San Francisco on Feb. 26; and Los Angeles on March 5 (sadly, two days after the console’s official launch).
