NIS America announced today that they will be bringing Natural Doctrine, the inaugural title from Kadokawa Game Studios, to North American and European markets in 2014. The hardcore strategy RPG will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, and will feature cross-save and cross-play compatibility.

Springing forth from the mind of Patapon director Atsushi Ii, Natural Doctrine centers around a group of explorers who venture into a cave in order to mine for Pluton, a coveted and rare material. However, as these trips usually go, the group is not alone, as the cave is teeming with a variety of beasts out for blood. Now the unlikely band must come together in order to stop these creatures, as well as warn the kingdom of their presence before it’s too late.

Originally announced at a Sony Computer Entertainment Japan press conference in September 2013, Natural Doctrine was supposed to be a launch title for the PlayStation 4 in Japan, but was delayed and eventually saw a release in April 2014. While the title doesn’t have a specific release date yet for North America and Europe, hardcore RPG fans may want to keep their eyes out for it. Natural Doctrine looks to be the punishing strategy title that the PS4 needs and deserves.
