There have been reports of especially loud Xbox Ones for a few weeks now, and as of today Microsoft is finally acknowledging the problem. Though certainly not a red ring of death-level catastrophe, the company appears to be offering free replacements to those affected.

The offer is only fair, and it shouldn’t come at too much of a cost to Microsoft either; they claim that a very “small number” of Xbox Ones are actually affected by the problem.

We have heard that a small number of Xbox One owners in some situations may hear a noise from the console that is too loud. While this does not affect the safety or functionality of the system, we’re asking customers who believe they are experiencing this issue to contact Xbox Support: http://support.xbox.com. At the request of our customers, we are exchanging those consoles for new systems.

Hey, my PS4 gets downright rambunctious when I play Infamous Second Son, can I get that replaced too? Oh, you mean that’s standard behavior? Kidding aside, complaints of noisy Xbox Ones have increased substantially with the console’s release in new regions earlier this month, so it was only a matter of time before action of some kind was taken.

September is a huge month for Microsoft’s console, as it aims to take on territories like China and Russia on September 26th, and others even sooner than that. It remains to be seen if Xbox can really catch on in territories where it has no previous presence, but you can’t know until you try — let’s just make sure the systems keep their racket at an acceptable volume.
