Paradox Announces Three New Games At GDC

I have to handle it to Paradox, they really know how to get me excited. Yesterday, Paradox announced three new games that are in the early production stages, including one from Arrowhead. Dungeonland, my early favorite, has three players running through a twisted theme park while a fourth plays as the Dungeon Master attempting to kill them out. RED Frontier is a new take on the RTS genre and The Showdown Effect rounds out the pack as a side on multiplayer action game. Let’s commence the breakdown, shall we?

I have to handle it to Paradox, they really know how to get me excited. Yesterday, Paradox announced three new games that are in the early production stages, including one from Arrowhead. Dungeonland, my early favorite, has three players running through a twisted theme park while a fourth plays as the Dungeon Master attempting to kill them out. RED Frontier is a new take on the RTS genre and The Showdown Effect rounds out the pack as a side on multiplayer action game. Let’s commence the breakdown, shall we?

The Showdown Effect is a 2.5 D multiplayer action game where we’ll be thrown into death-matches for glory and fame. Paradox is promising that almost every aspect of the game will be customizable including the stage weapons and game mode. The trailer takes a less serious approach to the standard death match mentality, and if that sense of humor carries over this is going to be a must have.

RED Frontier is an interesting take on the RTS genre. You play as a commander who builds up their armies around them as well as the standard RTS style defenses and weapon systems. This seems like a strange cross of DOTA and Command and Conquer, and should be a lot of fun to see how it plays out.

Dungeonland is something I’m going to be keeping a very close eye on. Three players take the role of either a Rogue, Warrior or Mage to tackle the Dungeonland theme park in standard co-op style, but the twist here is that the fourth player takes the reigns of the Game Master and will be setting traps and releasing the hordes in order to stop their progress. The trailer has the sense of humor that we’ve come to expect from Paradox, and this is looking like a must have. I can’t wait to throw sheep, eat turkey legs and kill park employees

I need it to be the future already. Which one of these has you the most excited?
