Bad news for those hoping to download PopCap’s upcoming sequel Peggle 2 at the Xbox One launch. Via an email swap with VentureBeat, the developer’s senior PR director, Garth Chouteau, confirmed that the peg-busting sequel has been delayed from the system’s November 22 release to an unspecified point sometime in December.

Chouteau had the following to say:

“Peggle 2 is a ‘launch timeframe’ title, but [it] will not launch day-and-date with the Xbox One — instead, it will become available a few weeks later in December.”

Peggle 2 had previously been confirmed as an Xbox One exclusive for the time being, and will revolve around the same pachinko-esque gameplay mechanic of manually launching balls at various colored pegs in an attempt to clear them all for a high score.

I played a lot of the original Peggle back on the original iPod, and while it’s certainly a simple series compared to other high profile releases, there’s definitely fun to be had, and I don’t see why the sequel won’t follow suit. Still, it’s sad that what could have been the indie darling of the Xbox One launch won’t be available for the system at the start. That being said, one month isn’t too long of a wait and hopefully PopCap is taking the time to make the game as good as they possibly can.
