Playdead Studios, the development team behind 2010’s gothic side-scrolling title, Limbo, has revealed its next project, Inside.

From the footage released thus far, the game appears to take many cues from its next of kin in terms of lighting and general aesthetic. However, Inside represents a departure from the Tim Burton-esque woodland areas of Limbo, with Playdead teasing a variety of urban environments for its next in-game adventure.

Players will once again step into the shoes of a vulnerable young boy, and although the studio hasn’t revealed much in terms of narrative, Inside will drop players within a rich and atmospheric 3D environment with puzzles aplenty to discover and solve.

Inside will launch exclusively for Xbox One as part of Microsoft’s ID@Xbox programme in 2015.
