The PlayStation 4 continues to go from strength to strength, it seems. Speaking in a recent interview, SCE Worldwide Studios VP Michael Denny said the PS4 has surpassed “well over 25 million” sales. I don’t think there’s a better time to buy into PlayStation–PS4 particularly. Our installed base now is well over 25 million. That gives us a massive community of gamers, supported by a lot of new community features. We’ve got great games out there, more coming through. We’re looking forward to 2016, it’s an exciting time.

With that said, the official figures have yet to be released. Considering that Sony’s last financial report pegged the PS4’s global sales as being 25.3 million though, don’t be surprised to see the upcoming update to the figures to be in excess of 30 million.

Despite its continued sales strength, Sony has admitted that its first-party lineup for the rest of the year is looking “a little sparse,” especially so, now that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has been pushed back to a 2016 release. It’s unsurprising then, that the company is keen to emphasize the strength of its third-party deals with Activision and EA that’s seen games like Destiny, Star Wars Battlefront and Call Of Duty: Black Ops III receive a slew of timed exclusive content.

Sony’s expected to release the official sales figures at some point today, so we’ll be sure to update this post shortly.
