Initially due to land later this month, Nintendo has delayed the release of Pokemon Go‘s wrist accessory to September. The Big N didn’t disclose an official reason for the last-minute postponement, nor did it offer a new launch date beyond that vague September window.

However, taking to Facebook, Nintendo did issue a message to budding trainers: “The Pokémon GO Plus accessory will now be released in September 2016 instead of the originally expected end of July launch date. Thanks for your patience, trainers.”

Entitled Pokemon Go Plus, the wrist accessory connects to a user’s compatible smartphone, enabling them to carry out certain actions on the fly – be that discovering a new Pocket Monster on the streets or drawing closer to a PokeStop. The Plus device vibrates to notify trainers of such events, while there’s also a flashing LED light.

Indeed, that accessory could soon be drawing players toward sponsored PokeStops such as McDonald’s and Starbucks. It’s understood the former fast-food chain has already become a partnered sponsor of the lucrative app in Japan.

We’ll keep you posted as Pokemon Go Plus nears its new September release. From mobile phenomenon to the silver screen, there’s also word of Legendary Pictures pushing on with a live-action Detective Pikachu movie.
