The Nintendo Switch is without a doubt one of the industry’s most popular systems, and it’s not hard to see why.
The console/handheld hybrid has pushed over 32 million units as of December 2018, thanks in no small part to huge exclusives like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the truly stunning Breath of the Wild. And while the Powers That Be have brought everyone’s favorite pocket monsters to the console already with Pokémon: Let’s Go (our review), no one can deny that there’s still a huge demand for the Switch’s first mainline Pokémon RPG.
But rest assured folks, as it’s coming – and soon, apparently. Taking to Twitter earlier today, The Big N announced that there will be a Pokémon Direct tomorrow, February 27th, at 9am EST. And though they don’t say what’ll be revealed, I think we all know at this point what’s about to go down, right?

Yes, it’s looking like it’s all but confirmed now that Nintendo will finally announce a new Pokémon game tomorrow, which is hugely exciting. After all, ever since last year we’ve been hearing about plans for a new title in the series, one which will bring back all those features stripped from Let’s Go and add in a few new ones, too.
Whatever we end up getting, Game Freak CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara told Bloomberg a while back that he has big hopes for Pokémon on Switch, saying:
I came to realize the key to a successful game is quite simple – software with absolute quality leads sales of hardware. Playing style can be flexible if the software is attractive enough. With the Switch, we see it as a chance to create Pokémon that goes deeper and with a higher level of expression. As a result, that makes it an extremely important platform […] Right now we’re using 7 to 8 inch screens, but on a high-definition TV you can express a whole different world with graphics and sound.
Be sure to check back tomorrow morning as we’ll have any and all news from the Pokémon Direct for you as soon as it’s made available.
