Today’s Nintendo Direct stream included a special surprise announcement. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, a crossover between the two popular handheld series, will finally be coming to North America sometime in 2014.

Originally announced back in 2010 and released in Japan in November 2012, the game is a joint effort between Capcom, who created Ace Attorney, and Level-5, who created the Professor Layton series. The title brings together both titular characters, along with their longtime assistants Luke Triton and Maya Fey, to solve a great mystery together, combining gameplay elements from both series.

An announcement trailer for the game can be viewed below. We’ll keep you updated as more news and media are released.
